It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
